Accommodation in family.

Our host families offer groups coming from all over the world a unique experience and a cozy and warm welcome. Groups staying with host families enjoy Irish culture from its core, the Irish family. Families like to share their home and are enthusiastic when meeting students and always up for a chat.


Services provided:

  • Laundry: 1 washing machine/week per student
  • Wi-fi: generally available
  • 1 towel and 1 bed sheet per week provided

Landlord: usually a couple or single person although we have also families with children

Room: single/double (for teachers) – twin/triple/quadruple rooms (for students).

Curfew*:

  • Training Vision recommends 21:00 during the week and 00:00 the latest during the weekend.

    *Please note that each family may arrange the curfew at its own convenience depending on the family schedule.


    About food

    A typical Irish breakfast may vary between families, however, the usual would be cereal and milk, toast with butter and jam or cookies and something to drink such as coffee, chocolate milk and tea.

    As students will be attending a course or work placement during the day, families provide them with a packed lunch. It usually contains a sandwich, a snack (chips, cookies, yogurt or fruit) and something to drink (water/juice/fizzy drink).

    As for dinner, participants typically receive stew, hamburgers, potatoes, pizza, pork chops and vegetables and fruit or yogurt as dessert.

    Accommodation in Residence self-catering and Hostels self-catering.

    On request we can provide residence and hostel accommodation both in self-catering.

    In Residences students have bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room area they can share and spend time together. Residence accommodation is based around the university of Cork area within Cork city, between 15 and 20 minutes away from all amenities.

    Regarding Hostel accommodation, students are placed in shared rooms (twin, triple and quadruple) with bathrooms included. They also have at their disposal a kitchen and dining area to prepare their food.

    Washing/laundry facilities, bed sheets, 1 towel and WiFi are provided both in residences and hostels.

    About Food:

    Breakfast, lunch and dinner (according to the chosen food service) are served in the dining hall of the buildings. The option of packed lunch for participants is also available.

    Breakfast: bread, cereals, muesli, cookies, yogurt, cafe, juice, milk, fresh fruit.

    Packed lunch: sandwich with fruit and juice/water.

    Dinner: one course, rich in vegetables and proteins.
